Question & Answer:
- EHFA: “Why is it important to have a trade body for the European fitness industry and what do you feel are the priorities for EHFA over the next three years?”
- Armando Moreira: "We live in a time where health and well-being is a major asset and the fitness industry should become the primary source for all citizens, all over Europe, with outstanding results. In order to accomplish that, people have to look for this industry and recognize we can offer health prevention, entertainment and social affairs with the right expertise. We should not accept to be perceived as a disposal service or just a simple way to get fit. We have to enrich our importance till the moment we become part of someone’s life. I believe a trade body for the European fitness industry has an important role to implement this perspective.
1. To represent, protect and lobby at EU level
2. To develop a common platform to gather market evidence (statistics) for national associations
3. The need to raise standards in order to establish a solid trust in our clubs and improve credibility
4. To address the problem of unequal competition between the private and public sector in certain countries
5. To promote the good practices occurred in the different countries and facilitate connections between countries".
Armando Moreira was elected to the EHFA Board at the General Assembly held in Essen on 22 April 2009.
