History & Background
EHFA has operated since 2001 and emerged out of the successful European Network of Fitness Associations that was established in 1996.
EHFA has been a main partner in the EU funded projects:
- Leonardo Di Vinci, ECVET Programme, Fitness (DG EAC)
- EQF-Sport, Implementing the European Qualification Framework in Sport, (DGEAC)
- RBT Social Dialogue Project, “Reinforce the representativeness of Social Partners in the sport sector: Row the BoaT Project”.
- AEHESIS Project - “Aligning a European Higher Educational Structure In Sport Science”.
The main outcome of these projects has been the production of a European Functional Map of the health and fitness sector and a map of core competences that can be found in a fitness instruction across Europe.
The year 2008 finds EHFA working with training providers to ensure that they provide the necessary information to their trainees.
