European Affairs
Created in 2001 as not-for-profit organisation, EHFA has operated up to now from the UK. EHFA officially opened its offices in Brussels on 1 December 2007 to be closer to the centre of the European Government.
EHFA European Affairs Working Group objectives are to :
- Protect EHFA members from bad policy, legislation or new regulation
- Identify new opportunities for members by keeping them aware of new policy developments
- Build support for the EU health and fitness sector among politicians
- Raise the profile of the sector among decision makers.
As part of building up its presence in Brussels, EHFA Board and Partners met in February 2008 with the representatives of the European Commission, Sport Unit of DG Education and Culture, to discuss the issues related to the EU White Paper on Sport. The meeting venue was the European Parliament in Brussels.
