Paul EIGENMANN

- Paul Eigenmann
Paul Eigenmann, born in 1947 in Switzerland, is a trained physical educator with additional degrees in exercise physiology and anthropology, and has been involved in the health & fitness industry for decades - as a customer, health & fitness club president, as well as co-founder and board member of EHFA. Paul has pioneered standardization within the health & fitness industry and is the CEO and owner of QualiCert and Qualitop International, which are both certification institutions. As a result of running his company in a multi-lingual, multi-ethnical and extremely federated country, Paul is intuitively aware of the challenges of a trans-European association.
Question & Answer:
- EHFA: "Why is it important to have a trade body for the European fitness industry and what do you feel are the priorities for EHFA over the next three years?
- Paul Eigenmann: "The health & fitness industry offers extremely valuable forms of health-enhancing physical activity. However it needs a strong trade body which ensures that the industry not only gains the recognition it deserves, but also the credibility and acceptance from political and medical communities as a genuine health care provider.
- In order to reach these objectives, EHFA must increase its membership and representation in Europe – mainly by acquiring strong national trade associations as members. In countries where such associations do not yet exist, EHFA must initiate their foundation.
- In addition I consider transparency and guaranteed compliance with widely accepted, but self-authored quality standards to be an important pre-requisite for acceptance and credibility from outside the industry."
Paul Eigenmann was elected to the EHFA Board for the term 2010-2012 at the General Assembly held in Essen on 23 April 2010.
