EHFA published the seventeenth issue of its newsletter, EHFA Update, on 14 October 2011.
The newsletter existed for the months between meetings. The association's membership was spread across 25 countries; the general assembly met once a year, the fitness forum once a year, and the working groups and technical experts met around their own schedules. EHFA Update carried what could not wait for a meeting: developments at European level, the state of the association's own projects, standards work in progress, members' news and the dates of what was coming. It was written by the secretariat, and it was the one publication that reached every category of member at once: operators, national associations, educators and suppliers. Issues were numbered in a single series that began with No. 001/2008, and by 2011 the letter was being issued several times a year.
No. 17/2011 was the autumn issue of the association's most active year, carrying project, standards and events news to members as the Brussels summit approached. A further issue followed it and the series continued into 2012. The newsletters are among the few continuous records of the period: unlike the press releases, which reported decisions, they show the work in progress. See newsletter and the news archive.
