EHFA Members Endorse Strong Plans for Growth

The association's members endorsed EHFA's plans for growth at the general assembly of 13 April 2011. The outcome was announced by the association on 19 April.

Growth, for a body of this kind, was a question of coverage rather than of size. What the association offered a member was measured in how many national qualifications could be referenced to the European framework, how many training programmes had been accredited against it, and how many facilities employed people whose registration could be checked. Each depended on the others. Trainers would not teach to a framework employers ignored, employers would not hire against a register nobody recognised, and national bodies would not bring their qualifications into a framework that did not describe their market. The association's published figures described the scale it was working at: some 10,000 facilities represented and 18 national associations spread across 25 countries. The annual plan was where that work was argued and paid for.

The general assembly was the association's decision-making body: it admitted members, approved the accounts and the annual plan, elected the board and voted on changes to the statutes. Standards were ratified there too, which is why the association's standards carry the date of an assembly.
