EHFA advertised for a coordinator of its European projects and the EREPS programme in February 2010. The advertisement asked for a CV and a motivation letter. The post was based at the association's Brussels secretariat and combined two strands of work that had grown into a single programme.
The projects were the Commission-funded vocational qualifications work - Eurofit-QST, ECVET-Fitness and EA-Fitness among them - which had produced the functional map of the sector, the qualifications framework and the verification system that stood behind the standards. EREPS was where that work reached the individual professional: the register of exercise professionals whose qualification an employer, or a member of the public, could check. By early 2010 the association recorded that the register had passed a thousand registered professionals drawn from 28 countries.
Running both from one desk made sense because the projects produced the standards and the verification system that the register depended on. The desk was where the register's day-to-day administration met the projects' reporting duties to the Commission, and verification was already under way in several markets, with training providers verified in Hungary, Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands and Sweden. The association advertised other posts in the same period, including an administration coordinator and bookkeeper. See EREPS and EU projects.
